Exceptional resource for all instruments from beginners to experienced. My interest: fiddle and banjo. Flexible, ease of scheduling. VERY skilled instructors. Bonus: Free group "jam" sessions on select evenings nearby.
The School of Musical Traditions has two different studio locations. One is in Takoma Park and one is Rockville. My daughter took Guitar lessons with Noah in TP and was very happy with the lessons and the instructor. My son took piano in Rockville with Elizabeth and is very pleased with her lessons and her instruction style. Both teachers have been very friendly and seem very competent. The studios are very clean. I highly recommend.
The instructor was nice, although my son wasn’t quite ready for music yet. I give it a three because it’s very tricky to organize and coordinate lessons. Also, the payment system is very rigid. While the owner will try to work with you, there are many limitations, including needing to sign up for an entire month even if you have a vacation. They would benefit greatly from having an online correspondence system that doesn’t rely on one person. They would also do better if they allowed alternate payment sources such as paying for a month with a check or credit card rather than a recurring payment.
We had a very good experience under the guidance of Ms. Acacia Sears in her vocal lessons. Her patience was phenomenal and allowed my child to explore music they were interested in while improving their confidence and vocal ability in only two lessons. I would definitely recommend and refer Ms. Sears to a friend.
