A Chat with Smith's Martial Arts Academy
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Our students are our family, and as a family-oriented school, our first priority is making our students better citizens. Our classes are small, which means you and/or your child will receive individual attention. You will not be able to find better training than what you will receive at SMAA.
What's one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
All students should come to class with an open mind and be ready to train and play hard. Our classes are challenging, but everyone succeeds at SMAA. You are only expected to be better than you were yesterday, not better than the student standing next to you. You are your biggest challenger!
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Master Smith started SMAA after spending 13 years in IT working for a large computer firm. He started taekwondo in 2000 and loved it. He began to assist his master teacher. When the opportunity presented itself, Master Smith jumped at the chance to make others better through the tenants of taekwondo.
What do you love most about your job?
Master Smith loves to see his students grow. Regardless of age, he loves to see them push themselves to perfect a move, learn a new form, and master their new terms. He looks for the light bulb as students get whatever they are mastering. Personal growth and improvement are the goals for his students!
