In his native Umbria, Italy, Chef Enzo Mauri first cultivated his love for some of the greatest olive oil in the world, a passion that evolved into an appreciation for all great ingredients. That kind of reverence for food is obvious at Stella Italian Fare, where he has designed a menu of dishes comprising such delicacies as imported cannellini beans, homemade sauces, and top-shelf cuts of meat and seafood. These include everything from braised lamb shank to freshly made tagliolini decorated with shellfish. Inside the natural-light-filled dining room or on the open-air patio, his guests take in the views of La Jolla Cove, the sounds of the tides, and the howls of hungry mermaids who can smell the lasagna.
