Today's side deal is your second chance to commune with nature and the animal kingdom. For $20, you'll get a 20-minute horseback-riding lesson and an hour-long horseback ride through the Chattahoochee National Forest at Sunburst Stables, a $48 value. Retreat from the city to the lush trees and mountains less than two hours north of Atlanta. Take a day trip with the family or surprise your sensitive stallion with a horseback adventure for Valentine's Day.
Your 20-minute lesson (normally $13) will focus on giving you the confidence and safety knowledge to happily sit atop the majestic creatures you used to only see on calendars. The one-hour historic still ride ($35 value) will take you on trails through the woods and past the natural wildlife, waterways, and the sites of moonshiners' stills. Rides leave at 10 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m every day but Tuesday.
If you plan on locating the well-hidden stables by way of your ever-reliable GPS, it likely won't show up. When you call Sunburst to arrange your trip, they'll give you the directions you need.
