What You'll Get

Photographs provide the only evidence that the past existed, aside from the outdated swear words used by grandparents, such as “huckster” and “aw, chestnuts.” Make history with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

 • $29 for a guided photo tour through the Great Smoky Mountains for one (a $58 value)
 • $55 for a guided photo tour through the Great Smoky Mountains for two (a $116 value)

Tours begin at Carino’s restaurant at 10 a.m., where a group of 25 students gather for a beginner camera lesson over lunch. After learning some photography basics, the group members will depart in their own vehicles, listening to an included audio CD and stopping at two or three remote locations in the Smoky Mountains. A knowledgeable guide leads the group, pointing out local history, sightseeing opportunities, and photo techniques along the way.

Taking Better Photos offers discounted rates for participants aged 16 and younger.

About Taking Better Photos

Preacher and photographer Jim Eastin shares his passion for storytelling through Taking Better Photos classes and tours. During the Smokies tour, Jim teaches group members how to use their cameras to wordlessly tell stories about nature. Photographers practice shooting, and Jim gives them tips on how to make a compelling photograph. For those who prefer to tour at their own pace, Jim’s tours are available on audio CD. Alternatively, Jim’s library of instructional DVDs facilitate at-home learning and include titles such as Composition and Creativity, Photography at Night, and Photo Editing on Your Computer.
