About Union Pacific Railroad Museum
In many ways, the history of the Union Pacific Railroad is America's history. Signed into being by President Lincoln, the nation's first transcontinental railroad connected the young Nation from east to west. The museum housed in Council Bluffs' historic Carnegie Library - explores the monumental task of building the nation's first transcontinental railroad, the history of communities along the rails, and how trains have shaped American lives since the 1860s.
