About Vernon Hills Golf Course
Vernon Hills Golf Course opened in 1979, and it was re-designed in 1996 just before it turned 18 and had to be rolled up and shipped off to college. Well-known course architect Dick Nugent spearheaded those re-design efforts, at once beautifying the 9-hole layout and sprucing up its clubhouse. Today, narrow fairways, small greens, and a meandering creek that comes into play on seven holes define the rippling course, which stretches to 2,836 yards from the tips. After rounds, players can browse the gear at the course's golf shop, or they can gather around drinks and food at the full-service clubhouse.
