Great little place. Had great conversation with our bartender about beer, the bar and local matters. Our Groupon was a great deal and met my expectations.

About Wakarusa Brewery

A small brewery in a small town, owned and operated by a couple beer lovers. While it's a small operation with a mix of 1bbl and 3bbl fermenters, the business is dual licensed as a brewery and winery allowing them greater flexibility in the beverages they produce.

How it started: One of the owners bought a home brewing kit from Groupon in 2010, filled his house with beer, and then sold his house to buy an abandoned building in 2013. He and the future brewmaster worked for the better part of 5 years to turn that building into a brewery.

What they make now: A varied selection of beers and meads. Flagships include the Hip Deep Pale Ale, Muddy Boots Oatmeal Stout, Long Hikes IPA, and the Rootside Up Mead. The other four taps rotate throughout the year with various ales, stouts, melomels, metheglins, and braggots.
