Service above and beyond As an elderly man, with mobility issues, and embarking on my first solo holiday, I have been somewhat anxious about travelling. This is a long journey for me from Orkney to London and required me to stop overnight in between. Hence I found myself at the Marriot hotel here in Glasgow. Since my arrival I have been blown away by the care and support shown by the staff who are not only extremely friendly and courteous, but have gone above and beyond to help me and make me feel welcome. In particular Amy and Yvonne. You have no idea how far a little kindness goes. Thank you , John

Not good Very busy kids running around reception while trying to check in couldn’t hear a word the staff were saying, kids screaming due to Scotland and Ireland football game on over the weekend, bed was very uncomfortable kids running up and down the halls shouting no one answering the phone when we rang down to complain as had a early flight out the next day, no table service due to being busy so got room service very nice burgers and chips still charged us room service price even though we had no choice, computers down the next morning so had to get in touch a couple of days after to pay the bill, won’t be going back shame really as close to airport

Food good, service lacking Food was really delicious. Kitchen fantastic at catering to dietary requirements. Have an egg allergy and able to have normal burger on egg free options. However, disappointed in service. Sat near table, and whilst a lot of other tables attended to we felt ignored. Took ages for even a drink order. We ordered food at same time, server said they'd check with kitchen, but never came back to tell us that was OK. After food served, no-one checked on us or even came to get out finished plates after lengthy wait. Had to go to bar eventually to get bill. Not best pleased with that but again enjoyed the food.

Parking fine Dropped off a friend at this hotel and was held up at reception. Returned to my car after 24 minutes. A few weeks later I have recieved a hefty £100 fine for parking for 24 minutes! That's ridiculous and the Marriott should clearly communicate this at reception.

Kirsty and Lyndsay were brilliant, but the restaurant's treatment of people with allergies is last century Big kudos to staff Kirsty (restaurant waiting) and Lyndsay (reception) who were brilliant and went out of their way to make sure that my coeliac husband could eat safely. Huge criticism is due to the company, whose allergies policy is incredibly behind the times. I hadn't even checked the gluten free options on the restaurant menu, as I just assumed in today's day and age my husband would be able to eat safely there, as they're a well established chain. Poor Kirsty had to come out with a huge file filled with information in plastic sheets, pouring through every detail to see what was safe and what was not. We haven't had to do that in any other restaurant for a decade, it took ages and was really awkward, apparently that's what they have to do for any allergy. "Looks like I can only have the duck, good job I'm not a vegetarian. " Sorry, they've run out of duck. The chicken should be fine, it's served with chips. "Can I eat the chips?" They say they're gluten-free. "Are they cooked in the same fryer as things with wheat in, if they are I can't eat them, they'll make me ill." Fabulously helpful Kirsty went to the kitchen to check. Yes, there was a separate fryer. Yes, the chips were safe for a coeliac to eat. So our meals came, my husband's was plonked down in front of him by an unhelpful lad with a close-cropped beard, who just walked off. No chips, just a small piece of chicken and some salad. It was late and we were starving. Lovely Kirsty spoke to him asking where the chips were, he told her that the fryer was used for wheaty things, which was completely different to what the kitchen had just told her. He walked off and wouldn't answer us. Patient Kirsty came over and we eventually found out my husband could have a portion of rice instead. We couldn't go anywhere else for dinner, we were a captive audience as we waited for our flight the next day. We were tired, hungry, stressed, and really worried that my husband wouldn't be able to eat anything apart from salad, or might end up ill. Lovely Lyndsay on reception had gone out of if her way to arrange for a bag of gluten-free food to be left out for breakfast, and that worked well, she couldn't have been more helpful. It was a selection of gluten-free cereal, they also had dairy free milk alternatives available. The room and everything was absolutely fine with a lovely ensuite bathroom. However, our experience was ruined by the stress of my husband not being able to eat safely, which is such an important thing to be able to rely on. The company really need to update how they deal with customers with allergies, it is completely unacceptable to have so little awareness and for things to be so difficult. Sort out your menu offering and get a properly labelled menu so that the conscientious staff aren't put under so much stress for what are now commonplace dietary issues!
