Great hotel but closed down I stayed in the Adler back in November. It was not the first time I stayed there, I was a happy returning customer. But when I tried to book a room again in December I discovered, to my surprise, the Adler had been closed down for good. Apparently a rich family from Chile bought the entire building and will start a different business (fashion/retail/luxury offices). Such a shame. It was a fantastic, discreet, luxurious hotel. It will be missed.

Poor policies and amenties for a 5 star hotel Arrived around 8pm, the staff wasn't welcoming. The room was already paid in advance. They asked that I give a credit card, while I said I wouldn't use the minibar. I show them my debit card and they weren't happy with it as they wanted a Credit card. I then said I don't have any credit card. They tell me that I need to pay a deposit if i want to have the room and there is no choice. So I had to give my work credit card! Such useless hotel policy. The hotel has nothing to entertain except a tiny bar. There was no spa, no anything. The room had no view (view over a car park). The breakfast is the worse thing ever, its an a la carte menu and not a buffet. Such an unusual thing for a five star hotel

Excellent While slightly old world charm everything about this hotel was classy and well executed. My room was spotlessly clean and comfortable. The staff were polite and helpful, even in English. This is not a modern flash hotel, but exudes charm and style and a great place for anyone in Madrid to enjoy the city.

Not as good as 1st stay! I had reserved several months prior to arrival and upon check in were given a room in the attic with a window that's eight feet above the floor where you could not see out. Complained and was told that they were fully booked but gave us another room the next day. This was an inconvenience, since we could not unpack for the next four days. The bathroom tub/shower overflowed all the water to the floor, no amounts of towels would take care of this. It's the best location in all of Madrid if you want to stay in the upscale Salamanca district.
