Rude Staff This review is for the staff at this resort. We resided right outside the resort and ate at the resort often. The resort is the closest beach access for us on foot, when we tried to use it, we got stopped by the staff who told us we can’t. We tried telling him the above and that it’s a pubic right to have beach access at which point he threatened to call security on us. Outraged, we went to the front desk and told them the above and they asked us to leave the property. I’ve never experienced people on such a power trip before, especially in hospitality industry. We will never stay here!

Must stay here if you're in Princeville We loved our 5 night stay here in HBR (#8131-8132). The unit: 10/10. Very luxurious and high end interior, every piece of furniture, appliances, dishes etc were upscale. The decor was simple yet very tasteful. I could purchase this property as is tomorrow. The kitchen was full loaded, and the second unit also had a small kitchenette Incase a couple wants to rent. We were 2 adults and 2 teens and the space was perfect. The view was breathtaking, lush green with multiple pieces of patio furniture. All bedrooms overlooked the bay/the mountains and perfectly groomed property. While we couldn't watch sunsets directly from our patio, we could see it walking just few steps up. If you really must see sunsets, then maybe id recommend 2nd floor units in building 9 (9000 series). The owners were also very helpful. The property: Excellent property, again 10/10. What's not to like here. The pool is big, resort style, the hot tub is fantastic with sand in the bottom, two very lovely restaurants with good drinks, pizza and food, making it very lively end of the day. Lots of lawn games, pickleball court, tennis courts. It's huge but they have golf carts help you out, we never really had to wait to pick us up, but majority of the times we just loved walking around. The pathway to the beach below is paved and lovely with tropical feel. Sunsets from that beach were phenomenal. One Hanalei hotel is right on that beach if anyone wants to go their pool bar to have drinks. The staff was very friendly. It is just 10-15 min drive to Hanalei town. The area overall is just perfect. Yes, it is expensive, so it is not something we can splurge on every time, but definitely experience this once. The check in fee of $50 is definitely a negative thing- never seen this before considering they also charge resort fee on top and parking fee.

Beautiful resort We just finished our one week stay at Hanalei Bay. The view from our one-bedroom suite (Guava building) was stunning. The rooms are large, and we had almost everything we needed. The one bedrooms do not have washers/dryers in the unit, so we had to use the on-site facilities ($2 to wash, $2 to dry, coin only, bring your own detergent). The pool is beautiful too, but the stone floor is really rough, so be prepared. We would love to come back to the resort in the future. It is so peaceful and beautiful.

A bit of old Kauai lives on! My Mom and I both LOVED this place! We stayed at three different hotels during our two weeks on Kauai and Hawaii, and this one by far was our favorite. I made a list of pros and cons for each hotel, and honestly, it was difficult to find the cons at Hanalei Bay Resort. Nevertheless, here is a rundown of our experience: We were early to check in, so we left to do some exploring and grocery shopping. When we got back, the room still wasn't quite ready (no big deal, it still wasn't even 4:00pm yet) but the ladies at the front desk offered to take our cold groceries and keep them in their fridge for us! We then strolled over to Happy Talk to have a drink and they called us to let us know the room was ready shortly after. The room was clean, large, comfortable, and had every comfort of home. The towels were SO soft!! The shampoo and conditioner was great. No room cleaning unless you stay six days or more, but that was not a big deal and you can just put your trash out the front door within a certain timeframe twice a day for pickup. We visited the Happy Talk Lounge a few times and loved it. Both food and drinks were delicious, and the views are nearly impossible to beat. The shuttle to the beach was appreciated, because wow, what a steep hike! But the beach was stunning with wonderful, enormous shade trees to sit under. The staff were all wonderful and friendly and the grounds are immaculately clean. Gorgeous views everywhere you turn. I fell in love with the pool! Way better than Hilton Waikoloa or Royal Sonesta. I know some people have said it was too cold, I thought it was perfect. Mornings were so peaceful, with a light, mist-like rain, families of chickens and Nene geese visitors, and vibrant rainbows. So, my con list is very, very short. 1. The coffee in the room wasn't great. They said it could make a pot (several cups), but we made it with enough water for just one cup and it was still a little weak. 2. Oddly enough, there were no scissors in the room, but everything else under the sun! 3. The hours are a little bit funky with Happy Talk not opening until 3pm. I know this is condo-style, and you mostly just get your own stuff, but it would have been nice to get a fancy drink by the pool! 4. Lastly, there is no way to lock your sliding glass door (or screen door) from the outside if you are on the ground floor. It wasn't a big deal, as I felt we were in a safe area, but still... Honestly, if you want absolutely stunning views, rainbows every morning, wonderful peace and quiet, and Nene and baby chickens visiting you daily, check this place out. You won't regret it. P.S. I would love to have seen the swim up pool bar in it's day! So sad it wasn't up and running....

Disappointing The grounds are stunning and the Landscapers should be commended! Other than that it was not the best experience due to many factors. It began with a call prior to arrival to ask a simple question. I was shocked at how nasty the person on the phone was thru the entire call. Then a week or so before we arrived there was an email or two advising us of some ammentites that would not be available during our stay. Regardless of that we decided to continue with the reservation but once there found that they added more reductions of ammentities along with a broken hot tub which we were told daily was going to be looked into and fixed but never was. Apparently this is a long standing problem that they wont / dont address and chronically give excuses for. The resort had to been aware of the loss of these additional ammenities well beforehand because they were due to the annual owners meeting per the email sent. Therefore they should of been included in the initial email stating the first few that were going to be unavailable. Peice mealing things that are being taken away during a stay is not ethical nor professional nor honest. Had we known the gym, hot tub, etc etc etc were not going to be available we would of gone elsewhere. Also, I have been to ALOT of resorts in Hawaii and have lived here over 24 years and have to say that the staff here was by far the worst. Unless you had a tip in your hand. Quite sad because it doesnt take alot to show even a little Aloha. I dont know if they were exhausted trying to please the owners but they sure didnt act friendly or professional compared to virtually every place that we have stayed at in Hawaii. When it came time to leave the resort we had Housekeepers sitting in a golf cart that entered our room before 10am and had dumped piles of towels in front of our door well before checkout time that we had to move to get out. Not a word from them just stares. We were a party of 4 who are all over 60 and had been quiet, kind and had cleaned the room before leaving so not sure why they were breathing down our necks.
