Perfect for an overnight stay The previous reviews were inconsistent so when we stopped I asked to see a room. As we walked from the front desk to the room, the hallways were clean and neat. The room was very clean and was roomy. The hot breakfast was good and they also provide sandwiches in the evening. Overall perfect for us for a 1 night stay

Fine but not worth the price Not worth the price. We had a corp rate of $144. Stayed here vs others as I have a IHG frequent stay account. We arrived very late and the front desk person was very friendly. We walked up the dated stairs to our room and saw someone had dropped a lot of corn on the stairs. It was still there when we came down for breakfast. Breakfast was typical bad free breakfast, microwaved eggs in a bag, overcooked omelets. The famous cinnamon rolls never made it out. The pancake machine made rubbery bland pancakes. Room was fine, real queen beds comfortable. Bathroom was clean but older with a chipped steel tub. Hail the sink outside the bathroom is weird but allows two people to get ready. Had a big mini fridge microwave and kuerig. We’ve stayed here a few times because of the distance between Co and Tex, but pretty pricey for what you get.

Unpleasant Check In and Safety Concerns. When you walk up to the desk and the woman looks up at you, stares and says nothing, you know you’ve arrived! Finally she says, “yes?” “I’d like to check in.” “Check in isn’t until 3:00,” she exclaimed. She looks up at a clock and I follow her eyes. It’s 2:45. “Please see if my room is ready,” I asked. Her eyes roll back in her head in a manner that can only be described as creepy. She yells for someone. “Can you see if Room xxx is ready? Meanwhile two more customers walk in and they are promptly informed that checkin isn’t until 3! Both look exhausted. We have all had a hard day of traveling and are greeted by Peg in her unforgettable and unforgivable manner. “Have a seat,” she orders me. “I’ll let you know when your room is ready!” As I turn to let the next person be abused, the magic someone arrives with news that my room is ready. Keys in hand, I check out the room which is clean and nicely furnished. Some people should never be allowed to interact with the public. Hey IHG, you have spent a lot of money on this hotel so you should spend a few more dollars to train your help in simple courtesy. Aside from an odd pubic hair on the toilet, the room was nice dated Holiday Inn decor. The air conditioner worked well. There was work being done on the patio outside our window, but the noise was not unpleasant and it stopped about sundown. The next morning, I checked to see if there were cinnamon rolls and there were and they were great. The tiny breakfast room was too crowded to check out the rest of the fare, but I’m sure it was typical of a Holiday Inn. When I set out to walk the dog, I discovered that the exit at the end of our hallway was blocked and unusable. A large sheet of plywood covered what used to be the door and there was no way to get out. A note on the door said to use the exit at the other end of the building. This exit is intended to be a fire exit. In the event of a fire in the center part of the building, the only way to get out of the part of the building with guest rooms would be through the fire exit at the end of the hallway. With the door blocked, the only way to get out of the building would be to break a window. I filed a request with the city of Raton to have the situation investigated. To me, check in time means that the hotel will have all the rooms available to arriving guests. It does not mean that I am required to check in after 3 PM. If a room is ready before check-in time, the guest should be checked in. Conversely, check out time does not mean that I have to remain in the hotel until 11 AM. I can check out anytime before that. My promise is that I will leave no later than check out time. After a trip of 7000 miles, the only two locations where I experienced this dogmatic check-in time rule was in New Mexico. The first time was in Tucumcari and now I’ve experienced it again in Raton. Perhaps it’s a New Mexico thing.

Night of Hell I was driving my 80-year-old parents back from Florida and we stopped by here and it was the night from hell. Moldy ice buckets loud broken air conditioners. In the suite the door to get to the restroom was so loud it would wake my parents up trying to get to the restroom. The people above were noisy all night even asking the front desk to do something nothing happened. We got no sleep the owner of the hotel did absolutely nothing. The corporation is somewhere in another country and they did nothing at all also. This place was the last Hotel before we got home and was the worst night of my life. It's unbelievable how owners of these hotels get away with stuff. I would never recommend this place in fact I would steer clear. Almost $250 for a night of hell. I have pictures and videos and they did nothing

Best in Raton I would say this is an older HI Express, but is likely the nicest in town. My room was clean, bed comfortable, good breakfast with a kicker small evening meal for IHG members. The blackout shades are great. The age in this hotel can bee seen on the room doors, stained sinks and discoloration on my blanket. The staff was excellent and accommodating. I will stay again when in the area.
