Pool closed for rennovation 12/19 - would have been nice to know I chose this hotel primarily for the indoor pool as there don't seem to be many in the area. Most hotels advertise an outdoor pool. This was a fun stop on our way home from visiting/staying with family for the holiday. I thought an overnight visit in the Memphis area would be great. We planned on sightseeing during the day and going back for a dip in the pool before turning in. I have 2 children 13 and 10 who enjoy swimming when we can. While we were at dinner I called to check with the front desk when the pool closed so we didn't miss out. It was then that I was told that the pool was closed for renovation. I was never informed of this when I booked and I booked directly on the website to avoid the third party route. I was very disappointed. I think it shold be noted on the website so that people are informed before they book. A large portion of the hotel was under construction. I think the room should have been discounted more due to this or close the hotel during construction.

Renovations The hotel is currently going thru some renovations. However that shouldn't keep you away. The restaurant was closed when i was there. The room was nice & the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good...eggs, grits(not instant), sausage, potato. There is plenty of truck parking around back.

Mr. We checked in and there was NO HEAT and the outside temp.was in the 40's. The clerk transferred us to another room, it was a little warmer but not much. The carpet was worn out, must have been original when it opened 75 years ago. Bathroom was clean, towels, hand towels were very clean. T.V. remote didn't work. Continental breakfast was terrible. Wouldn't stay there again even though the price was fair.

Not as advertised Stayed here one night do to passing through, the pictures are false advertising. When we arrived the building was questionable bc it appeared to be a run down hotel. Got to our room it seemed ok but when we started to settled in we noticed the floor was dirty as if it wasnt vacuumed in awhile, there was a dirty toothbrush on the floor, the ice bucket had mold and was dirty, the fridge wasnt working correctly, the water pressure was bad, stains on the comforter and one pillow was dirty. The room was tolerable but come one people even of it's a $50 one night stay you want your guests to be comfortable, happy and not feeling like they are in the ghetto. On top of it all at 11pm the maintenance man decided to bang around on walls and pipes in the room below us, went down stairs to let front desk know and they said the maintenance guy lives on sight and does renovating at night. Ridiculous. The breakfast was ok, also tolerable but the lady working the breakfast bar wasnt friendly. They had gravey, grits, eggs, cereal, waffles, biscuits(all out and never put out more),bagels, yogurt, milk and juice. I bet this review will get the same copy and paste post from management like everyone elses on here, "Dear Valued Customer.." Its up to you if you stay here but there are better looking hotels in the area probably for the same price.

Passing through town Stopped here on our way from Canada to Galveston ... close to the highway and amenities. The restaurant and pub were more than suitable for our overnight needs. The rooms were clean and comfortable. I would come back here again.
