BAM Academy isn't your run-of-the-mill gym. That will become obvious when you walk in and see people swinging on bars,
bouncing off a spring-loaded floor, and literally running up the walls. The space—almost like an urban landscape—is especially equipped for parkour, a discipline that enables individuals to move through their environment quickly and fluidly.
Parkour is one of several disciplines taught at BAM, along with gymnastics and natural movement programs. It's based on functional movements and emphasizes strength, balance, and coordination, making it an effective fitness regimen for exercisers of any age. Those training in parkour can eventually become skilled enough to leap over hurdles and sprint up the sides of buildings, much like a superhero trying to catch the bus. For movement efficiency, BAM offers Ballistic Movements classes which entail short workouts utilizing kettlebells, sandbags, Bulgarian bags, battling ropes, and MMA style conditioning tools to help improve mobility, joint and shoulder stability, and core strength.
