  • Vintage Market Days
Vintage Market Days organizers Amy Scott and Dianna Brown discovered an interest in vintage bazaars at a young age. As a child, Dianna frequented neighborhood garage sales to find items that she repurposed into decorations for her "pretend house." Meanwhile, Amy visited the Tulsa Flea Market with her mother and great aunt, who collected Depression glassware and helped her to start her own vintage collections. As adults, Amy and Dianna organize upscale vintage events several times a year at indoor and outdoor locations throughout Oklahoma. Shoppers can examine architectural salvage, peruse vintage home décor items, or drape themselves in clothing and jewelry from yesteryear so they won't stand out as a tourist on time-traveling trips. And to complement the vintage wares, vendors also sell original art and handmade jewelry.

  • Tulsa Winterfest
Although Tulsa isn't renowned for its white Christmases (the last one being in 2009), the city certainly knows how to treat its denizens to yuletide delight. Like making a trip to the North Pole on foot, the annual tradition of Tulsa Winterfest puts families in the holiday spirit for 52 straight days of festive entertainment and ice-skating. Underneath the wide open Tulsa skies, families take to the 60'?x 150' rink of frozen ice, gliding and sliding like pint-sized Brian Botano's and Tara Lapinski's. The mighty rink is adjacent to a climate-controlled warming tent, which is perfect for those who want to kick back and observe the frigid frolicking. Amidst the skating excitement, Winterfest also features an outdoor stage, where up to 140,000 visitors have reveled to hall-decking live entertaiment.

  • Live Nation
More than half a century ago, three partners raised a vibrant, multicolored tent on an underdeveloped industrial site and established the Westbury Music Fair. It followed its first production, The King and I, with a decade of top-name talent and Broadway musicals. Then, recognizing its place on the theater scene was permanent, it planted its roots as a fully enclosed theater-in-the-round. Expanding its repertoire to match its new digs, the theater showcased performers such as The Who, Bruce Springsteen, and Julie Andrews. Today, past a lounge blazing in purple and red lights, guests find that same circular stage hosting equally great musical acts, musical theater, and competitive musical chairs.

  • Pumpkin Town
In 1999, the name "Pumpkin Town" hardly applied to married couple Lonnie and Melissa's modest produce stand. Little did they know, Pumpkin Town would become a full-time endeavor in itself, one that kids Brigette, Phillip, and Margo all helped shape. Today, "Pumpkin Town" is a fitting title for the 20-acre farm that Lonnie and Melissa run. Most beloved for its 5-acre corn maze—open day and night, other autumn-themed attractions include inflatables, train rides, a giant jumping pillow, a treasure dig, face painting, and tractor-tire swings. And, of course, the produce stand that began it all still offers its bounty to guests.

  • Wingapalooza
On Saturday, August 8, restaurants from around Tulsa will gather at the BOK Center for Wingapalooza, a showcase to crown Tulsa's best wings. The field includes McNellie's, Rusty Crane, Full Moon Café, Joe Mama's, Baxter's, and a host of other restaurants known for their outstanding wings, wing sauces, or wing preparation. In addition to feasting on wings all day and pretending to be a food critic for a made-up magazine called The Winger, attendees can also grab drinks from cash bars and listen to live DJ-spun music.
