  • Las Vegas Tea Fest
Naomi Rosen and Louise Carruth understand that tea is more than just a beverage. For Naomi, it’s the deep, complex flavors—from her position at Joy’s Teaspoon, she fills area pots with more than 75 loose-leaf teas and more than 30 spices. For Louise, it’s the community aspect. Enamored of tea’s ability to unite people, she frequently attends afternoon teas at assisted-living residences, where she bonds with residents over tea-leaf readings and tea-related yarns. The two have joined forces to organize the Las Vegas Tea Fest, which combines Naomi's extensive knowledge of her stock with Louise's appetite for togetherness. Their one-day event includes tea and food pairings, cooking with tea demonstrations, a traditional Chinese Wu-Wo tea ceremony, and on-site exhibitors such as Little Candle Tea Company. Tastings gather teas from countries such as India, Japan, and China, while local artisans hawk tea-related wares, such as giant teabags you can sleep in when you have a sore throat.

  • CSI: The Experience
At one lab station, an interim investigator carefully examines bullet casings. At another, single strands of hair deliver the DNA samples necessary to send a suspect to imaginary prison for a long, long time. Around every shadowy corner of CSI: The Experience, the latest recruits in forensic science slide into the latex gloves or behind the majestic mustaches of popular TV characters to solve crimes through interactive detective work. A total of 15 lab stations harbor the evidence of three murders, each of which throws multiple suspects into the mix to trip up investigations. Videos featuring cast members and real-life scientists provide guidance throughout analyses, and afterward, newly established sleuths receive certification by prying an official CSI: The Experience diploma from the cold, lifeless hands of their email inbox.

  • Fremont Street Experience
Las Vegas is known for its lights, but instead of neon bulbs advertising casinos, the Viva Vision show gathers crowds for daily light performances set to music. A 1,500-foot-long, 90-foot-wide screen suspended 90 feet above the pedestrian mall flashes 12.5 million energy-efficient LED lamps as tunes from Bon Jovi, the Who, and others play.
