  • Dark Carnival
After inching through a shadowy cave, groups emerge only to find a macabre carnival waiting for them in another room. The 10,000 square feet of Haunted High's Dark Carnival includes these spooky settings in addition to dungeons, abandoned warehouse spaces, and more, all complete with plenty of corners where costumed actors can hide before frightening passersby. Trips through the Dark Carnival tend to take just over 20 minutes, providing startles and scares throughout the entire attraction. The Dark Carnival's spooky experience represents the collective efforts of more than 70 volunteers. All proceeds go to support the efforts of the Oconomowoc Public Education Foundation (OPEF), which enriches classroom environments in local schools. By funding grants that provide teachers with materials and equipment, OPEF demonstrates its commitment to furthering education within the community.

  • Schwefel's Restaurant
The distance from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, to anywhere in Germany is vast, to say the least, and includes a trip over the Atlantic Ocean. But Schwefel's Restaurant?plopped right in between Madison and Milwaukee?cuts out lengthy travels and potential run-ins with hang-gliding sea monsters. Inside Schwefel's, the scents of sauerbraten and wiener schnitzel float amid cherry-red tablecloths in the understated dining area. Familiar American dishes, such as lobster and prime rib, share table space with German house specialties, such as the beef rouladen, a fusion of rolled beef, pickle, bacon, and onion. Regardless of the food's origin, Schwefel's makes each dish from scratch?right down to the soups and dressings. Though Schwefel's Restaurant is no stranger to formal dinners, a more casual bar area entertains patrons with arcade games and sports broadcasts.
