The Deal
$25 for a fencing class, including equipment rental and membership (a $60 value). Choose from three classes:
- Four-hour adult introductory class for ages 13 or older
- Two-hour youth introductory class for ages 12 or younger
- Four-hour historical fencing class on rapier, long sword, or stage-combat techniques
The center provides all safety and fencing equipment. With their membership, students can visit the fencing center during its open hours for the remainder of the month in which their class takes place. See the schedule here.
Redlands Fencing Center
Even fencing enthusiasts may not immediately recognize some of the techniques students practice inside Redlands Fencing Center's 3,500-square-foot space. That's because, in addition to modern fencing techniques, instructors also teach students to use such historical weapons as the German broad sword, focusing on the approach of legendary 14th-century masters. When students aren't working on their footwork, they head to the pro shop to pick up equipment, replica weapons, and even gear for live-action role-playing.
