Aesthetician Jodi customizes her facials to ensure that each client’s issues are addressed. She focuses on fighting acne, sopping up excess oil, and smoothing fine lines. A microdermabrasion wand helps her remove the outer layers of dead skin cells, so skin looks billions of seconds younger. She also happily waxes off unwanted facial fuzz for a smooth surface.
Body Bliss Massage’s licensed therapist, Shanell Swick, broadens her repertoire with regular attendance in continuing education classes. At the studio—where earth-toned walls, potted plants, and nature-inspired art adorn private treatment rooms—she lathers bodies with Young Living essential oils and organic body creams to soothe away stress during her treatments. Her clients can choose from stress-melting classics such as Swedish and deep tissue treatments or try something new with raindrop therapy or serpentine stone massages.

Do you use any products or brands you're particularly proud of? What makes them uniquely effective?
I use a totally organic, edible beeswax-based massage cream that is made locally here in Oregon.
Besides making clients happy, what do you like most about your job?
I love the sensation of feeling the muscles give and begin to completely relax and melt under my finger tips. It is the moment when the muscles begin to "melt" that I know the truly deep and effective work can begin.
What's the most common beauty mistake you see people make? What would you recommend they do instead?
People should try to look like the best version of themselves, as opposed to trying to look like an ideal.
