Neon beer signs cast blue, green, and red light across the black ceiling, and tables populate with okra, mushrooms, and cauliflower starters—all deep fried to a golden crunch. An enormous projection TV broadcasts the latest game amid the pulse of a jukebox, and several flat screens promote revelry at the weathered wooden bar.

For more than 20 years, this casual sports bar has unleashed its signature third-pound burgers on Derby, topping them with everything from whole grilled-cheese sandwiches to chili and nacho cheese. After two-handing hot dogs or brisket sandwiches, guests can test their motor skills with the bar's free Xbox 360 with Kinect game base, or improve their coolness quotient by ordering the trendiest new summer drink: water on the rocks.

The kitchen at KC's Too Bar and Grill never closes, meaning guests can stop in any time for a helping of familiar pub food such as burgers and pizza. But the menu also spices things up a bit with tacos, chicken-fried steak, and one particularly indulgent dish?two deep-fried, bacon-wrapped hot dogs. These savory eats pair with freshly poured pints and mixed drinks from the bar, which guests can sip as they catch a sporting event on the overhead TVs or shoot a round of pool. KC's also welcomes musicians into its no-frills atmosphere on live music nights.

With its grand reopening in 2005, the Louise C. Murdock Theatre married the technological trappings of a modern cinema to its historic, 80-year-old interior. The theater’s original frescoes and iridescent, art-deco chandelier greet guests as they make their way toward a single 25'x16' screen. Framed by lush red curtains, the digital canvas displays images from a digital projector with high-definition capabilities, accompanied by the boisterous booms of Dolby surround sound. The theater screens a diverse calendar of cinematic fare, including limited-release arthouse films and classic foreign cinema augmented by popcorn and other epicurean goodies from the full concession stand stocked with snacks, alcohol, and more. The Murdock also proudly projects simulcast and prerecorded productions through partnerships with The Metropolitan Opera and the National Theatre, transporting international stage performances to the Murdock without the hassle of getting sandbags through customs.

With three beach volleyball courts on the outdoor sand bar, people don?t just watch sports at Jerseys Grill and Bar, they also play them. Of course, those in the mood for watching can sidle up to the inside bar, where a squad of TVs and projectors displays live sporting events. There, beers pour from taps and servers deliver flatbread pizzas, sandwiches, and chicken dishes. The chefs flex their creativity with the menu's handful of half-pound Black Angus burgers, as they roll one patty in black peppercorn, dip another in a teriyaki glaze, and top a third with a fried egg. While eating, guests can check out the football helmets that line shelves above the windows and the framed jerseys that bedeck the walls. The bar has a designated space for kids to expend their energy in the game room, and another space for DJs, live bands, and the local theater troupe?s re-enactment of Space Jam.

Wichita Fencing Academy was established in the late 1970s to educate, instruct, and advance the sport of fencing in Kansas. Today, having produced regional, national, and international competitors, and as a member of the United States Fencing Association, the academy continues to sharpen skills of both beginner and advanced fencers behind its prominent red door. Current head coach William Wells is third in a short list of renowned maestros, which includes Herman Bonner, under whose direction the academy began functioning strictly as an all-epee club and stopped forcing less-advanced students to duel with crazy straws. Those coaches have continuously shared their knowledge at the academy's year-round schedule of events, highlighted by lessons and tournaments.

Internationally renowned wines and craft beers harmonize with a full slate of Mediterranean-inspired tapas and other small plates at Oeno Wine Bar. Guests thumb through a wine list flush with rare varietals, budget-friendly bottles, or selections from top wine producers. Drawing out complex flavor profiles, the bistro crafts a host of small plate amuse-bouches, including spanish bruschetta with prosciutto-wrapped shrimp, cilantro aioli with manchego cheese, and chorizo sliders. A champagne room hosts private parties, events, and games of Pin the Tail on the Cask of Amontillado. Outside, the wine bar regales diners with live music and local DJs spinning dance music.
