Though Stony Knoll Vineyards' first harvest didn't take place until 2002, the winery's 48 acres of cropland have been part of the Coe family since 1896, making it a North Carolina Century Farm. For most of that time, the land yielded tobacco, but now, under winemaker Lynn Crouse, its two vineyards grow grapes for 12 wines. That selection ranges from two cabernet francs to the signature SKV Plantation White, a dessert wine fashioned from handpicked chardonnay grapes.
Samples abound inside Stony Knoll's tasting room, which is nestled high in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, overlooking the scenic vines below. Elsewhere on the picturesque estate, Stony Knoll hosts weddings and overnight guests in its Wine Lodge. The lodge, which was built in 1860, was originally a rural homestead, but it now offers modern amenities for its guests, including a two-person jacuzzi and flat-screen TVs.
Inspired by the rustic cuisine of the South, the menu at Chateau Morrisette is home to hand-made, savory beignets; a house take on surf and turf; and boards piled with cheese and charcuterie. Tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains, the restaurant and winery invites guests to experience a taste of old-world elegance with a bottle of one of its many varietals, ranging from summery Blackberry Wine to classic Merlot.
Bull & Bones Brewhaus & Grill, one part brewery, one part sports bar, and one part upscale dining room, serves handcrafted microbrews and a menu of burgers, steaks, and sandwiches. Saddle up in front of 1 of 20 HDTVs with a Pub burger, which hugs wood-fire-grilled Angus beef with a kaiser roll (an $8.99 value), or a Black and Blue burger, a chargrilled patty topped with crumbled blue cheese (a $9.29 value). While holding a bunned beauty, diners can consider pours from Bull and Bones own line of brews (not covered by this Groupon), including the Maroon Effect brown ale, a finalist at the 2010 Microfestivus event. Bull & Bones toes the line between classic sports bar and brewpub, complementing the bevy of HDTVs and seven Diamond pool tables with exposed air ducts, boldly colored walls, a bounty of indoor and outdoor seating, and a 10-barrel microbrewery that's only visible while wearing 3-D glasses.
Watts Roost Vineyard started as a dream?specifically, a retirement dream shared by Barbara and Frank Tuckwiller. In 1998, the married couple made the dream a reality, planting a 9-acre vineyard with thousands of French-hybrid grapevines.
Weeks before each harvest, the Tuckwillers and their staff begin checking the pH and sugar content of their living grapes. When they're satisfied with the measurements, they pluck the grapes and begin the process of fermentation. The result is a roster of reds, whites, and fruit wines that have garnered state, national, and international awards. Visitors can stop by for vineyard tours and wine tastings, shopping for kitchen accessories and gourmet treats if desired.

Initially planting vines for neighboring wineries, Virginia Mountain Vineyards' staff slowly began to dabble in the art and science of winemaking. Then, in 2006, they began crafting their own varietals on-site. Today, staffers tend to more than 5,000 vines across nearly 10 acres of picturesque land, plucking ripe grapes to transform into red, white, sweet, and specialty wines. Events are regularly held at the vineyards, including a summer concert series, special tastings, and trying wines straight from their barrels.
