Hidden in the small town of Antioch, Illinois, Dr. William Murphy of the Antioch Lunatic Asylum was known to practice his own, untested methods for curing mental illness. Starting out with the best of intentions, he created new medical restraints and ensured a strict regimen of care to better protect his patients. But over the years, his methods turned to the macabre, and the hospital quickly transformed into a house of horrors, much like the Brady Bunch's home. The doctor took to performing grisly operations that resulted in a 90 percent mortality rate, and he was eventually shut down by the board of health. It was later discovered that the maniacal doctor had disappeared and taken much of his equipment with him. Though his location officially remains unknown, The Haunted House of Macabre is a good place to start looking—for those who dare enter.
