Four Things to Know About Fat Sal’s
Like a New York City diner staffed by Hollywood starlets, Fat Sal’s blends east and west coast influences into something that can only be described as “American.” The product of three friends from New York—one being Jerry Ferrara of Entourage fame—the restaurant serves sandwiches loaded with meats, cheese sticks, fries, and onion rings. - They’ve earned praise for being an “authentic” sandwich joint. Unpretentious but with enough Hollywood pedigree to feel like a scene, Sal's cuts a balance, according to the LA Times, between having a Southern California vibe and a “Hell’s Kitchen authenticity.”
- They can work a whole meal into a single “fat sandwich.“ Take the namesake, for instance, which stuffs roast beef, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and fries into a garlic hero.
- The menu boasts plenty of variety, too. Fat sandwiches balance lighter heroes, creations from a burger bar, and almost a dozen styles of french fry sides.
- They’ll make you a shake but they won’t give you a straw. The shakes are so thick with ice cream, marshmallow, fruit, and spices that a straw is basically useless.
