About Date with Paint
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
Date With Paint is a painting events veteran owned, local company that is exclusively run by artists. We support other local small businesses and mentor and provide internships to emerging artists. What makes Date With Paint stand out from other painting events companies is our approach to how we structure our events. Each event is a painting experience where attendees receive hands-on assistance from our team of professional artists. Each event is lead by our highly talented and engaging team of artists who guide and encourage each participant to create one-of-a-kind masterpiece, which they will be proud to show off to your friends. Our social painting events are of two types: Theme-Based and Pet Portraits. We plan our Theme-Based events around the time of the year, special events and participants’ requests. For example, if the event’s date falls around Valentine’s Day, the theme could be “Love.” Once the theme is chosen, Date With Paint creates 3-4 different sample paintings for participants to use as guides while painting their own interpretations of them. Our Pet Portrait events are unique in that we hand-sketch a realistic likeness of each participant’s pet as a template for the participants to follow. The quality of the sketches is such that they themselves can be considered finished drawings of each pet. During the 3-hour Pet Portrait events participants receive hands-on assistance from our team of talented artists and we make sure that each participant is absolutely satisfied with their portrait.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
The inspiration to start Date With Paint came from our desire to share our love of art and teaching art to others in a format that was different from other similar venues. We attended other painting events as participants and even taught some events for other companies and we found that most were lacking the high quality standards that we hoped to see. But one of the most disappointing missing aspects was the personal engagement between the artists and the participants. During our events, we get to know each attendee; we learn their personal desires for what they want to create, for whom and for what occasion. We also stay in touch with many of the participants through social media and we have many returning for more events.
What do you love most about your job?
What we love most about our job is the personal connections we foster with our participants as they paint their masterpieces! We get the greatest feeling of satisfaction and pride when our guests are elated when they are finished with their paintings.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
The best reactions that we get from our customers are their surprise in how beautiful their paintings turn out, particularly the Pet Portraits. Most of our participants have never painted before, especially pets. Because of our attention to detail while sketching each template and our hands-on assistance to each attendee, their paintings are truly a work of art. But one of the most moving and memorable reaction from one of our customers was when she had tears in her eyes after finishing the portrait of her beloved dog that had passed on a few months befor….
