From Our Editors

What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? I teach private voice lessons focusing on improving breath control, range, voice quality and understanding of music fundamentals so students can sing the songs they love with confidence! I have over ten years experience teaching voice, violin and piano to students of all ages and experience levels. I am also a professional performer myself so I can provide advice and guidance if performance is the student's goal. Or if the student is studying for personal enjoyment then I gear the lessons to his/her specific goals. It is important to me to provide a fun, positive, encouraging learning experience while also challenging them to improve!

What was the inspiration to start or run this business? My degrees are in vocal performance as well as vocal pedagogy, the study of teaching voice, and I started teaching while I was still in school. I enjoy sharing my expertise and witnessing students improve. Many times I learn just as much from teaching as my students learn from me.

What do you love most about your job? I love watching my students progress, especially when they have an "a-ha" moment in which a concept we've been working on suddenly clicks and leads to better singing!

What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a student? One of my students is a teacher herself for kids with special needs and she said I am one of the best teachers she has worked with because I know my stuff, I push my students to be better while also encouraging them and I am always able to alter my teaching style to match my student's learning style.
