Michigan Zombie Run, Birch Run

A 5k mud run chock full of 20-plus messy obstacles to climb, crawl, and wade through is challenging enough. As Michigan Zombie Run’s name suggests, however, this particular event plops an extra impediment between racers and the finish line. Divided into running and crawling ghouls, each zombie—made extra frightening by professional makeup —attempts to steal flags from the belts of human participants. If those mere mortals cross the finish line with at least one flag on their person, they remain human; otherwise, they’re cursed to being extras on The Walking Dead for all eternity. Either fate is up to you – Michigan Zombie Run lets every participant choose whether they want to be humans or zombies.
