Class Description

Beach Yoga at Dane Street
Breath in the salt air and beauty around you while detoxifying the body in a slow flow style, with an emphasis on form and alignment to relax the body, calm the mind and rejuvenate your spirit. This class is for students at all levels and meets on the grass at Dane Street Beach. Please bring a yoga mat. In inclement weather, class will be held at North Shore Yoga studio.
Pre-natal Yoga
A class specifically designed to support mother and baby throughout the changes of her pregnancy. It is a safe and effective way for women to care for themselves during pregnancy and prepare for childbirth. In this class you will gently stretch and strengthen your body, increasing your energy and vitality through mindful movement and yoga postures. You will also cultivate your capacity to breathe freely, release tension and relax deeply. This class is designed to help women develop trust in themselves and in their ability to give birth. Come and enjoy the company and support of other pregnant women while you nurture yourself and your relationship with your baby!
Barre Basics
Total Barre is a challenging barre-based workout guaranteed to get results! This workout combines the grace of dance, the flexibility and stability of yoga with the strength and tone of Pilates. Classes incorporate biomechanical movement essences to ensure positive results and client safety and is designed to affect physical adaptations for all body types. No dance or Pilates experience required, just an interest in moving to music as you sweat, chisel and sculpt your legs, core and arms!
Mindful Vinyasa Yoga
Vinyasa is derived from the Sanskrit term nyasa, which means "to place" and the prefix vi, "in a special way" as in linking one yoga pose or asana to the next. Class starts slowly with a strong concentration on the breath; then class builds momentum, through a series of flowing Sun Salutations and standing poses that focus on form and alignment to build strength, stability, endurance and encourage better posture. Heat is established internally, as mindful self awareness and attention to the body, nourishes core muscles. The class moves from standing sequences to a series of seated, prone, supine and inverted postures designed to increase flexibility and build core strength. Students conclude with relaxation and meditation, leaving the mind calm, the body rejuvenated, and spirit elevated.
Rusty Hinges Yoga
This class is for those of you who are new to or have been away from yoga for awhile, or perhaps have gone through an injury and are looking to ease your way back into practice. As our bodies age, we recognize that same habitual patterns and behaviors are no longer serving us well. Through this class we will re-train our bodies and our minds to gently challenge our limitations and cultivate new ways of living in our magnificient bodies more fully and respectfully. Join us for a journey of healing and self-discovery.
Form, Flow & Restore Yoga
Explore Hatha Yoga in a gentle, restorative manner. The class will start by connecting the breath to gentle warm ups to prepare the muscles and joints for deeper work in a few standing, balancing and seated postures followed by restorative postures that completely support the body with props for deep relaxation. Class concludes with savasana (relaxation pose) and meditation. Working in this way, your body, mind and spirit can melt into a renewed and restful state and your nervous system can slow down into a deep, conscious state of calm. This class is great for beginners as well as anyone that prefers a softer, gentle practice.
Hatha Yoga
What most people refer to as simply "yoga" is actually Hatha Yoga. This particular system of yoga is the most popular one, and it is from which several other styles of yoga originated including Power, Bikram, Vinyasa, Anusara, Kripalu, Iyengar, Astanga and Kundalini. The word "hatha" comes from the Sanskrit terms "ha" meaning "sun" and "tha" meaning "moon". Thus, Hatha Yoga is known as the branch of Yoga that unites pairs of opposites referring to the positive (sun) and negative (moon) currents in the system. Hatha Yoga tries to achieve balance between body and mind, as well as attempts to free the more subtle spiritual elements of the mind through physical poses or Asanas, breathing techniques or Pranayama, and meditation
