Metta, as defined by the Mettamade team, means loving-kindness, and refers to an earnest desire for happiness in one's fellow humans. Just as the word is at the root of the organization's name, the concept is at the root of each of its events, from the vinyasa wine tastings to the lights-off "Glow Flow" sessions. These "pop-up" yoga events blend the discipline and reflection of yoga with soul-soothing elements such as wine, laughter, and gourmet cuisine in saunas, farms, and breweries. There, simple poses blossom into full-scale social events to connect likeminded new friends and deepen attendees' personal practices.
