Sonnenberg Gardens and Mansion State Historic Park’s 50-acre estate is one of just two public gardens in all of the New York State Parks System. Built in 1887 by Frederick Ferris and Mary Clark Thompson as their Victorian summer home, it now stands as a flower-filled garden visited by tens of thousands of people each year. This serene respite is well known for its extraordinary collection of period architecture, garden statuary, and themed gardens of the world including a Japanese Garden and Teahouse.
