About Walks in History
Walks in History's founder, Geordie Buxton, has not only lived in the Charleston area his whole life, but also has written books about his favorite city. In other words, he's an ideal tour guide.
Led by author Geordie Buxton, Supernatural Charleston ghost tours lead groups of spirit seekers through a lineup of Charleston's spookiest spots. The 90-minute tours begin at the John C. Calhoun Monument in Marion Square and cover about three-quarters of a mile to a mile as walkers explore the phantom-infested airs of locations peppered throughout the downtown peninsula. As spine-chilling jaunts traverse un-exorcised grounds, guests may be shepherded to stops such as the site of an orphan asylum and the remains of a Revolutionary War graveyard where the voices of phantasmal residents may haunt visitors with terrifying tales of being taxed for stamps. Knowledgeable guides volunteer background information and details about each site, and tour takers can opt to learn more about Charleston's ghostly history by snagging the poltergeist-packed pages of Haunted Charleston, Haunted Harbor, Haunted Plantations, or Supernatural Charleston. Browse the schedule for upcoming tour dates or to make reservations.
Though Geordie leads most Walks In History tours, other seasoned guides may lead them during the busy summer season.
