About T-REX 5k Walk/Run
In 2014, the Derkevics were presented with an opportunity that would change their lives forever. Two girls, sisters Leticia and Evie, needed to be relocated to a safe home, and the family of four stepped up to help. However, it hasn't been a seamless or inexpensive process, and the Derkevics have turned to their community for support by hosting the T-Rex 5K. All of the proceeds of the event will go to covering the cost of Leticia and Evie's adoption, and they hope the event will raise awareness for adoption in general.
So, where does the T-Rex part come in? To make things a little more fun, Mrs. Derkevic will be training for the race and running the 5K in a massive, inflatable T-rex suit. And they encourage all participants to don costumes of their own, even if it's just a T-rex T-shirt (not required).
