Perseverance, focus, and confidence. While these attributes may sound like their describing effective leaders, they're the exact skills developed at Urban Threads Studio. UTS has made it its mission to empower under-resourced youth, right here in Chicago, through the wide umbrella of the textile arts. Adults and kids alike can learn pattern-making, product design, and garment construction through a series of ongoing workshops inside the Bridgeport Art Center. Additionally, Urban Threads' resident artists travel to Chicago public schools for in-school and after-school programs to help kids of all ages learn a centuries-old art form in an inclusive, social space.
