Police officer, astronaut, veterinatian—those are all popular careers kids say they want when they grow up. But what about engineering? It's often a field young people don't know much about until they're older. That's where programs like Engineering for Kids come in. The educators behind the program hope to give kids the opportunity and the skills to find inspiration in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) fields early on, so they can develop a passion for the work. Engineering classes for children from pre-K to 8th grade encourage kids to follow their curiosities about how things work through a wide range of activities that include building scaled-down bridges or designing video games. The result is a new way for kids to approach problem solving, such as how to get little brothers down from of a tree once they've coerced them up there.
