Escape Lake Gregory, Crestline

Nestled among the pines of the San Bernardino National Forest, Lake Gregory is an idyllic escape. Kayaks slip across the water, hikers amble along scenic trails, and children build sand castles on the beach or splash through the water park. The surrounding town of Crestline is quaint and charming. But it once had a dark side—at least in the story supplied by Escape Lake Gregory.

The San Bernardino Mountains were en vogue for tourists in the 1920s. More vacationers and partiers meant more drinking, which was mostly outlawed at the time by Prohibition. Smugglers and gangsters set up speakeasies to satisfy the demand; Mugsy Malone was the only one to ever avoid arrest, even though his spot was raided often. Did he build a secret escape route to elude the police?

That's the question players are trying to answer during room-escape games at Escape Lake Gregory. Up to six people—dressed in Jazz Age gear if they really want to be on theme—work together to find clues and solve puzzles, trying to figure out within 60 minutes how Malone got away.
