What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
GroupX at DS Sports Plex is located at DS Sports Plex and offers classes in Zumba, Dance Jam, and Cardio Sculpt. GroupX group fitness classes are comparable to semi private workout sessions. Classes are tailored to the clientele and everyone knows you by name. Workout with friends, and then socialize afterwards in our smoothie bar, The Smoothe Move, or our Sky Lounge where we serve beer and wine.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
Our founder, Rachel Leigh Soler, is a busy working mom who understands it's hard to get a workout in when you have to shuttle kids to and from school activities. Rachel would come to DS Sports Plex, a 70,000 square foot facility that her husband managers, and would watch parents sit for three hours straight at least twice a week while their child practiced volleyball, indoor soccer, and basketball. As a group fitness instructor, she wanted to provide parents the opportunity to workout while their child practice. "Kill two birds with one stone". Though, busy parents is the inspiration behind GroupX, anyone is invited to participate in class.
What do you love most about your job?
The community and friendships it builds. Class is just an hour, but the friendships created during sweat sessions last a lifetime.
What is the best reaction you've ever gotten from a customer?
That I've changed their life. Fitness is not just a physical thing. It impacts you emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I love helping people change from the inside out.
