The house is wonderful but the tour guide was terrible. Spoke too fast and there seemed to be no organization to what he talked about. We spent very little time in the largest room there was to see (the library) and I wasn’t sure why. It as hard to understand him given his pace and lack of articulation.

We love to tour historical buildings, and this was more than we imagined. The house itself, was beautiful, with some interesting history and elements. But we were surprised about the life of General Dawes, who had a lengthy resume that included VP of the US. Also learned of all the community involvement of the Dawes and how much they did for Evanston. Highly recommend!

Great house with wonderful history of Vice President Charles Dawes. Well preserved and nice way to spend a few hours. Too bad so few people know he was VP and his great career. But docent gave a very nice tour.

On a summer afternoon, we essentially got a private tour of an historic Evanston home and a window onto the life of a vice president we previously knew little about.
