The "Run" of the Glow Fun Run 5k's moniker is a bit of misnomer. While it is indeed a race where feet move faster than normal, most contestants won't be running across the finish line. They'll be dancing. Illuminating the double-looped course of The Oaks Mall perimeter, participants clad in glowing gear (and Halloween costumes, if they choose) boogie across 3.1 miles of incandescent joy masquerading as exercise.
Primed by a pre-race Zumba dance warm-up, contestants gambol out of the starting gates and keep a steady pace thanks to rhythmic support from nearby DJs hovering in the trees. The party keeps going after the race at the Glow Fest shindig, where DJs keep the tunes pumping, glowing gear giveaways take the drab from fall wardrobes, and revelers show off their best moves—and possibly win cash—during a dance contest.
