Massage therapist Marc Rubman—a member of the Associated Bodywork & Massage Professionals—goes out of his way to make sure no two massages are exactly alike. He tailors his sessions to each client using what he calls the Rubman Technique. This means that, rather than going into a session with one of several pre-designed modalities, he leaves his preconceived notions at the door and starts every session with a thorough discussion. From there, he eases clients into relaxation, blending techniques from shiatsu, deep-tissue, and myofascial release depending on the ways the muscles react.
Each tailor-made session takes place in a warm, comfortable room filled with soft music, but Marc Rubman also makes house calls. And for a quick 15-30 minute wind-down session, the therapist will even trot his massage chair to offices and break rooms.
