Located inside Tecumseh Arena, Powertech Hockey's roster of specialized training equipment includes a skating treadmill, a rapid-shot shooting lane, and plenty of contraptions designed to improve strength and agility. But mixed in amongst the whirring cables, clanking iron, and cheeping from freshly hatched Zambonis is one especially important element: human instruction.
That part comes from co-owner Andy Paquette, who takes the utmost pride in building better hockey players. Coach Paquette specializes in stick handling, power skating, and shooting, and his methods have helped launch professional playing careers—including several first-round NHL draft picks. His staff at Powertech also includes business manager and co-owner Justin Solcz, an associate head coach of men's hockey at the University of Windsor, Karly Davidson, a certified personal trainer, and several other expert on- and off-ice trainers.
