Every season brings a new reason for families to flock to Shawhaven Farm. The bucolic family-owned farm, which has been operating since 1947, introduces urbanites to the pleasures of farm life with seasonal events full of kid-friendly activities. Read on to learn more about some of its offerings:

• Corn Maze, Pumpkin Patch, and Halloween Haunts: When leaves start changing colors and swirling about in a brisk breeze, it's time for the farm's fall festivities. Kids wander through an 8-acre corn maze, hop on a tractor ride to the pumpkin patch, and play games such as pumpkin bowling and corn hole. Older visitors test their mettle in three haunts, dodging zombies in the corn maze and ghouls in Samara’s Boarding House.

• Holiday Lights: Cold weather ushers in the holidays and with them come the farm's Christmas. Covered wagons pulled by tractors roll past animated light shows and a nativity scene, then guests alight and head into the barn for some cocoa, donuts, and cookies. On certain days, Santa has been known to make an appearance.

• Lamb Festival: When the ice starts to thaw and buds appear on trees, it's time for kids to hang out with more than 100 newborn and baby lambs. Parents browse woolen items for sale, such as yarn, dog beds, and socks, then snap pictures of their kids holding a lamb.
