From Our Editors
A bartender giveth, and a bartender taketh away. Part of the profession is adhering to liquor laws, recognizing minors, and deftly dealing with intoxicated patrons. At B.A. Mixologist, teachers work all of those vital subjects into their curriculum, alongside the more fun stuff, such as common cocktail recipes, techniques for organizing a bar, and why bar jukeboxes are legally required to contain Hall and Oates. Beneath shelves brimming with different brands of hooch, the team can eventually guide students to certification as a mixologist and TABC-adherent bartender. Afterwards, mentors don’t simply kick their new trainees out the door with a pat on a back. They instead induct their charges into their staffing service, which focuses on finding positions for bartenders and waiters.
