What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?

This 3.5h intro course equips a new photographer with the skills to competently operate their camera to create the images they envision. Covers exposure, depth of field, motion blur, lenses, focus, flash and more. Provides lecture and hands-on practice. Class limit 5 to ensure individual attention.

What course material do you provide? What do students need to bring?

Students should bring their digital camera, any lenses or flashes they would like to use, and their instruction manual. We provide a model, professional studio equipment including strobes, light stands, backdrops, tripods, and various light modifiers, learning materials and light snacks.

What was the inspiration to start or run this business?

JPA was created to fill a clear gap in the local photography schools. Many of our competitors provide only classroom courses or photo tours. JPA believes effective learning must include both. Our instructors teach a concept and then bring the students into the field to practice that skill.

What do you love most about your job?

Being able to see our student’s photography change and improve throughout the 6 weeks we get to know them. Graduating students that have an increased appreciation for the details in a great image.
