There's something magical about going to a roller-skating rink as a kid: the neon lights, the smell of pizza wafting through the air, and the excitement of trying to not wipe out in front of your crush. And that magic is alive and well at Skate America.
The rink hosts open-skate sessions, school field trips, and birthday parties. These are both fun and help keep kids active, much like chasing the family dog around in order to give him a pedicure. For those who feel a little shaky on four wheels, the staff leads skating lessons and provides little skaters with the Skate Mate—a wheeled "walker" of sorts that helps kids keep their balance. And for a break from the action, the arcade entertains kiddies, and a menu of soft pretzels, nachos, cotton candy, and, of course, pizza refuels their skating sessions.
