Autrey Mill Nature Preserve, Johns Creek

While the first Europeans were making their way towards North America, the Creek and Cherokee tribes were fighting for control of the lands that now make up Autrey Mill Nature Preserve. This bit of history is just a part of the 400 years of heritage now on display in the park. Granted protected status in 1988, the park preserves the story of these rugged wilds and the hearty residents that once called them home. In addition to honoring Native American heritage through exhibits and educational programs, the preserve also maintains a Heritage Village memorializing the farmers who tilled the land at the turn of the 20th century. Two miles of trails connect these sites, letting guests commune with more than 110 species of wildlife spread across shady woods and creekside shoals.
