This was supposed to be a 90-minute tour of the museum and a wine tasting of 9 wines. We got the 90 minute tour, which was interesting, but the place where the wine tasting was supposed to take place was closed that day. Chef Marty offered us a cider tasting instead, but that really didn't interest us. So, he gave us a coupon for a free dessert at their restaurant in Shelby. We did have a delicious lunch at the restaurant and a shared dessert. We enjoyed the shops in Shelby while we were there. I think the Groupon was misrepresented.

What a great time I had at the Inn of the Preaidents' Cooking Class. The class is right in the middle of the Inn's kitchen, so it's unpretentious and comfortable . The class is for all levels of culinary skills. Marti is a wealth of knowledge, has great stories to share, and makes cooking fun! Check out their culinary gift shop, too! Thanks, Marti and Crew! I look forward to returning.

This was the first time my husband and I have ever had this experience. We had a great time learning to cook something that we could easily replicate at home with normal ingredients. The owners were very friendly. We would do this again!

When you walk through the front door you feel at home. All the staff treat the guest like family.

This is a very quaint hotel run by a loving family. We learned how to make pizza 3 different pizzas from scratch, along with at least 10 types of bread. I will definitely be trying this on my own at home. This was our first cooking class and we had a great time. We will definitely be going back for the tour at some point!

From Our Editors

Step into the Presidential Culinary Museum at the Inn of the Patriots, and you're stepping into history. Assembled from the private and public collections of Martin CJ Mongiello, a former White House chef, the museum shines a light on the dining traditions of presidents dating back to James Madison as well as the staff members who made it all happen. Guided tours explore Revolution-era artifacts, First Ladies' favorite recipes, and food items that take their name from Presidential sources, including the Baby Ruth candy bar. Chef Mongiello also hosts cooking classes so that visitors can start preparing their children for White House dining before they've even been elected.
