Picture Wasilla Lake as a blank palatte and the paddle of a standup paddleboard (SUP) as a paintbrush, stroking through the pristine waters to frame sweeping landscapes of the Matanuska Valley. Stand Up Alaska owners Marvat and Tom strive to share the regions beauty by offering two-hour lessons that impart proper technique for paddling, steering, and wielding a paddle to fend off retired American Gladiators floating in the bay. Life jackets are provided along with the board and paddle, and participants should be sure to wear breathable layers on sunny days or a windbreaker on cloudy or rainy days.
