People are used to hot-dog toppings that come from a jar or a can or a squeeze bottle. But at Hippie Hot Dog Hut, the staff makes as many of their toppings from scratch as possible. They chop pickles to make fresh relish, toss cabbage for their coleslaw, and simmer beef and chicken chili till it bubbles. And the hot dogs are just as fresh as their toppings—the dogs are 100% real meat, and never frozen.
Customers can chow down on a traditional Plain Jane hot dog, or opt for one of the specialty dogs—such as the bacon-wrapped Give Pork a Chance—that are nestled in fresh-baked pizza bread rather than a standard bun. Alongside the varied list of hot dogs, customers enjoy burgers, chicken sandwiches, and even breakfast specials in the psychedelic space, with its fuchsia walls, '70s-style flowers adorning the tables and ceiling, and neon-colored peace signs peppered throughout.
