West Los Angeles sushi emporium California Roll Factory does sell by-the-piece creations and sashimi, but what sets it apart is its selection of rolls. More than 100 combinations make up the menu, ranging from the straightforward to the odd; the Some Like It Hot, a local favorite, combines spicy tuna, spicy sesame oil and Tabasco for a rare sushi treat with a kick. Others are given campy names, like the Love Roll, which combines albacore and spicy tuna with fried onion and garlic sauce for a roll that will make the diner’s breath unkissable. Each of the signature creations are served quickly to diners inside the fast-paced restaurant’s central sushi bar, or at one of the limited tables inside. A few sidewalk seats are available under the restaurant’s black awning, but don’t expect to bring a large crowd here – the place can fill up fast.
