From Our Editors
Juggling the constant demands of everyday life can become overwhelming, which is why Studio Surya’s founder, Yonnus Becker, leads more than 30 yoga classes each week, urging her students to escape life’s stresses and channel inner harmony. Most of her sessions follow the Vinyasa tradition—a fast-paced series of poses connected by deep breaths—but they also include slower-paced classes, such as Gentle Candlelight and Relax and Restore. Whether sessions are lit by the sunrise or flickering candles, she and her staff encourage students to deepen their mind-body connections by linking their movements with focused breaths and engaging their limbs in meaningful conversation. In addition to a regular menu of classes, the Surya staff hosts private lessons and regular workshops on topics such as the Bhagavad Gita, and winter teacher training.
