When renowned Afro-Cuban choreographer and dancer extraordinaire Neri Torres founded the IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Festival in 1998, she wanted to illuminate the ethnicities of South Florida and spotlight dance traditions that share African roots. "Our festival gives people of all backgrounds—whether they're dancers or not—the opportunity to enjoy, learn, and engage in a celebration of the folk traditions of the African Diaspora in Latin America and the U.S.," she says. And Miami heard the call. That's why the IFE-ILE Afro-Cuban Dance Festival is returning for its 18th year of music and fun dance workshops.
